From
Chennai:
There are two roads to reach Pondicherry;
NH 45 (National Highway) or ECR
(East Coast Road)
ECR:
East Coast Road is built along
the coast of the Bay of Bengal
connecting Chennai to Pondicherry
via Mamallapuram. A trip along
the East Coast Road gives rise
to a spectacular scenic beauty
with beaches and fishermen hamlets.
NH
45 (National Highway): NH 45 is
an express highway which was also
known as the GST Road. The advantage
of taking this route is that the
traffic is divided in two sections,
one for small cars and one for
big trucks. There will be a road
diversion from NH-45 in Tindivanam
to reach Pondicherry.
Tip:
ECR is ideal for travel in day
light. NH 45 is ideal for travelling
without traffic congestions, recommended
for travel during day and night.
From
Bangalore:
Pondicherry is about 300km from
Bangalore. Drive down Hosur Road
till Krishnagiri, take a left
from the main highway (road signs
mark the route) and then enter
the National Highway which leads
to Pondicherry.
